Family Fun Day

Today we decided to fix up the back patio by adding some new flowers. We all got ready and headed to Lowe's this morning. Will was ready to pick flowers and hand out directions! When we got back Will was happy to watch and play while someone else did the work! He got a little tired and took a nap halfway through and woke up to a finished product. Then we cleaned out his closet and reorganized and now he's napping again. Fun family time on a Saturday!

Ready to go to Lowe's!

Waiting in line after we picked our flowers.

Will playing while his dad did the work.

Giving out orders!

All that work made him tired.

Time for a nap!

He woke up and it was all done! Pretty flowers!

The two workers after they finished.

We started going through things in Will's room after we had all cleaned up and he put on his cap...he looks so grown up!

He also put on his moccasins and bandanna.

Will's First Easter

Will had a fun and exciting first Easter with a few fun pictures! Rob and I went to a wedding on Saturday night but there is always egg coloring at my grandparents house in Lebanon so we took Will over there before the wedding. He got to watch eggs be colored and he got one with his name on it. Sunday morning we went to church with my grandparents and Will was very well behaved! We went and ate lunch and then went back to my grandparents house for the egg hunt. Will had a fun Easter basket but of course, he couldn't really hunt. His sweet Aunt Susan carried him to pick up his one egg with his name on it so I could get his picture with it.

Will and Susan ready to get their egg, we had to search it out ahead of time so they knew where to go!

Will's egg. It says Will Bo Byrd because we call him Will Bo alot so that's why it looks like Bo Byrd. You can kind of see the W in Will.

His cute little basket that his Birdie gave him.

Hanging out with the aunts.

Getting pushed in the swing by Nandy, something I remember well!

Introducing....

Cousin Lily!!! This is Will's new best friend, he just doesn't know it yet! Lily was born on April 19th weighing 7 lbs and measuring 20 inches! And look at all that hair!! She's precious! We are so excited she is here and we got to visit her today. I didn't get to go  last night because Will was already in bed, because he is actually sleeping now!!

I grew up with a cousin/best friend and it was so much fun! We were two months apart and we did everything together! Even though they are boy and girl, I'm still pretty sure they will be great friends. Welcome to the world sweet Lily!

Will's Big Adventure

This weekend marked a big first for Will (and me)! Rob and I went to a wedding in Maryville and Will spent the weekend in Fayetteville. I dropped him off Friday at noon and picked him up Sunday after church. Two whole night away from each other!!! It was fun for both of us I think. We got to spend Friday night with Rob's friends at the rehearsal dinner and then Saturday we went into Knoxville for lunch and then headed to the wedding. We got home Saturday night and decided we should go to dinner and a movie. Then we woke up early and went to early service before going to pick him up. It was fun to just do whatever we wanted and not have to worry about packing him up or going around his naps.

Will spent his weekend getting lots of attention! I think it was too cold for them to get out much but he had fun playing with everyone and from what I hear he was a good eater and sleeper, which are his two main activities!!

I missed him and it wasn't that I was worried at all, I just wondered what he was doing and how he was sleeping and when he was napping, all of the things that I spend my time on these days! But in the end, fun was had by all and I definitely think it'll be even easier next time.

Sleep Sweet Sleep

We took away the pacifier on Sunday night and at this point I'm convinced it's the best thing we've ever done. Last night Rob got him to sleep and laid him down and we didn't hear another peep until he woke up at four, which is early but he just ate and went back to sleep until about 7:30. Tonight we were having a hard time getting him down and I finally got him to sleep in my arms but as soon as I laid him in bed he woke up. I walked out and he put himself to sleep, without crying, in ten minutes. He just rolled around and settled in! I'm so proud of him!! A couple of minutes ago he woke up again and whined a little bit and went back to sleep. This is a vast improvement over the up and down all night and the hours of crying. Daytime naps have gotten longer and more regular and he's happier when he's awake!!! I feel more rested than I have in weeks. It's been a lovely week!

He's getting better at sitting up all the time and can be pretty straight when he wants to, other times he just kind of rolls into a ball or folds over in half.

Rob set him on the stairs and he was just hanging out there. I don't think we should encourage stair climbing any earlier than we have to!

Thumb Sucker

So day one of boo boo detox has gone pretty well. Yes, I call pacifiers boo boos. My cousin used them when we were little and that's what she called them so we all did too. He took two good naps today and was in a good mood in general. He didn't seem to miss it at all until bedtime when we couldn't get him settled down. In the end, he cried 25 minutes before falling asleep, which really isn't that long for him and is much better than last night when we did the back and forth for what seemed like forever. I hate hearing him cry and it breaks my heart but I really feel like after a couple of nights we are all going to be sleeping better.

In other news, Will has started sucking his thumb. This is not something we taught him to do but he's been sucking on his whole fist for awhile now so I guess it was bound to happen. He doesn't seem attached so I don't mind it for now, but I hope it doesn't become a habit. He started about a week ago and seems to do it a little more all the time.

Family Pictures and Sleepless Nights

So I don't have much to post about but had some pictures I wanted to put up. There's not much going on with the Byrd family these days. We are glad to have Rob back home for the next few months!! That's our best news.

We haven't been getting much sleep around here lately which makes for a grumpy Will and a grumpy Mama! He was an 8 hour sleeper until about 2 weeks ago and now we are up all night. So, as of about 30 minutes ago, I've decided we are finished with the pacifier. I'm not giving it back, ever! He wakes up for it all night long and it makes him tired all day and definitely makes me tired all day! His naps are getting shorter and he's getting fussier. He still has his fun times of day, they just aren't nearly as long as they have been. He was up crying tonight and we kept giving the pacifier back only to have him spit it out five minutes later and cry again. Finally I gave him a burp cloth to hug and he's now sleeping peacefully. I'm definitely expecting more wake-ups tonight but I will just have to give back the burp cloth and hope things go well. I'm hoping by the end of the week we will ALL be sleeping better, I'll let you know how it goes!

This is an idea of how he's been all week. He's spent more time in the swing than usual and has this sad look more often than I'd like!

Today we were all dressed for church and decided we should take some pictures since it was nice and sunny. I think Rob's is much better than mine since he and Will are both looking and smiling! I just look squinty and Will is staring at the ground.

4 Months

Sunday was technically the four month mark, but Monday Will had his appointment. At four months he is 15 lbs 6 oz, and 26.3 inches. That puts him in the 75th and 95th percentiles. He is rolling tummy to back, but not because he thinks it's fun, only because I keep rolling him onto his tummy and he doesn't like it. He plays with some toys now and likes to rattle things. He's very interested in his hands and feet and likes to play with them. He laughs when you play with him and is so much fun. His sleeping right now is all over the place, but I think most of that is due to him being sick last week. We are working to get back on schedule, which was about 8:30 to sometime between 4-5.

Will is hanging out and watching me finish up this post!

The only picture on the actual four month birthday. He had been at a baby shower for his Aunt Laura and Uncle Bryan so he was worn out, but he loves that little chain and won't let go of it when he's in the carseat.
